Custom Munny – Alfredo

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

I finished a new custom 8″ Munny yesterday, and he’s called Alfredo. Click the picture on the right to see other, larger views. He’s been painted with acrylics and sealed with acrylic spray. Alfredo is already on display in a relatively new local gallery that wants to carry some of my work, called the Cornerhouse. He’s also for sale, so please contact the gallery for more information.

I’m now starting work on some Dunnys so expect new pieces from me soon.

Sketchbot Custom Reveal, New York & MyPlasticHeart

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

So on Friday 26th March, the Sketchbot custom show launched at myplasticheart in New York. My custom, called ‘Monument’, was one of 50 artist pieces on show and here are some photos of my piece.

There are more photos of it in my Flickr set and also a second Flickr set of photos and notes of the process I used to create the piece.

I flew out to New York with my wife and kids on the Thursday to coincide with the launch night and we spent 5 fantastic days in New York on a short break, getting back earlier today. It’s the first time I’ve been to New York and I fell in love with the place. At the friday launch night event at myplasticheart for the Sketchbot show I got to meet so many artists that I admire, such as Steve Talkowski (the Sketchbot creator), Lou Pimental, Eric from Argonaut Resins and so many others.

If you’re interested, my piece is available for purchase from the myplasticheart web site.

Sketchbot Custom Teaser

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I pretty much finished my Sketchbot custom last night, apart from some varnishing which will happen later in the week once the paint has fully dried. I showed some pictures of it to Steve Talkowski, who is Sketchbot’s creator and invited me to participate in the show, and he encouraged me to post a teaser image ahead of the show so here it is.

What you’re seeing a little over 2cm tall :) And that’s all you’re getting before the show opens on 26th March at myplasticheart in New York.

Looks Like I Missed December

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Happy New Year everybody. Looking at my blog is appears that I missed out posting at all in December, sorry about that! 2010 is looking positive with a big commission hopefully beginning later this month, a custom vinyl project that I can’t talk about yet and lots of other irons in the fire.

Also started a new painting on 2nd January that I’m hoping to finish this week. It’s on a professionally hand made canvas which is wonderful to work on and I’m tempted to drop Loxley and just use these canvases from now on. The frame and canvas quality is top notch and well worth the extra money.

My exhibition in the local cafe finishes in a couple of weeks and it looks like one or two of the paintings are going to new homes, which is nice. I will most likely put the others up for sale online later this month once I’ve got a shop sorted.

Anyway, I hope you’re all sticking to your New Year resolutions and that 2010 is a corker. I’ll be back soon with an update on my doodling and painting.
